Installed my ZOOM Engineering Blue Mirrors
I bought it to battle blind spots and improve my viewing angle. I also like the contrast you get from blue mirrors.
Convex/Blue silvering combo = Increased visibility
Installation -- very easy, my daughter could do this. ZOOM Eng provides you everything you need to install the mirrors. Fitment was spot on.
Result: ZOOM wins
The down side: It is pricey for a pair of mirrors.
The details:
Glass Quality:
When I unpacked the mirrors, I could tell right away the glass quality was top notch. There were no inconsistencies on the surface. There is no distortion on the reflections. The biggest selling point for me is the blue tint. I could not tell how they did it but the reflection is clear.
Mirror Thickness:
About 1/16 - 3/32. I could not tell if the thickness is perfectly consistent all around. I suspect it is not as it is difficult to do this flat let alone on a convex. This shape allow you to see more than the flat surface mirror. I cannot tell if the SoCal summer heat will cause it's shape to change causing distortion, I will let you know if it does.
Mirror Silvering:
The blue coating applied to one side makes this unique and easy to my eyes. It provides the contrast that I need. The quality of the reflection as a result of the coating is top notch.
