I think Nissan and the other 2 big Japanese companies (Honda and Toyota) are very "stingy" with their super-car motors for good reason. Domestics will shoehorn any of their hi-performance, big block, tree stump pulling V8s in any of their cars. This "whoring out" makes their cars "common"...because after 5 years, you can buy a Zr-1 for like, maybe $50,000 or a Z06 for $35,000, a Ford this, Dodge Hemi that, for $18,000 all with 450+ hp. And this is what makes domestic cars kinda rednecky. They chop up the cars, pull the motors out, put them in primered ,rust bucket trucks... But Japanese cars are trying to catch up to the aura of European prestige e.g. Lexus LFA $400,000+ car that you can only lease. But the consumers still see Japanese cars as tier-2.
It's a marketing ploy, but I digress.
