There is no law that states you must have your papers in a certain place inside your car as far as I'm aware of. But it would make sense to have your papers handy without having to get out of your seat. I had a car when I was 16 years old where the drivers side window doesn't roll down and was pulled over, I told him my window doesn't roll down and I started opening my door asking him if this is ok, he had his hand at his holster yelling at the top of his lungs. So I left the door closed and said My Bad lol. Just a heads up.
I had that one time when i was driving with my mom, she doesnt speak english very well and she told me to get out and tell the cop sorry, mind you i was like 12 at the time lol, cop pulled a gun on me and told me to lay down on the floor. I literally stared at him and said wtf? LOL. he was GET DOWN NOW, im like yo relax my mom just wants to say sorry. it was a funny day.
