Default Z is sold but I'm not gone!

It was an offer I couldn't refuse!

Long story short (well, maybe not), my wife decided to sell her Z. We already have a '76 vette, my toy, so there really wasn't much need to have two sports cars in the family. She wanted a SUV so we went looking for a Cadillac SRX, Lincoln MKX, Accura RDX or maybe a Nissan Murano amongst some others. Couldn't believe our good luck at the Nissan dealer. In Canada, they are offering $6K off MSRP or 0% financing for up to 84 months until 2 June on a new Murano. What I din't know was that they were also offering invoice pricing for Canadian Armed Forces members.

Here's where it gets interesting. The Z has been up for sale on Autotrader and Kijiji for a month and no bites except for two scammers. We wanted to trade anyway to save on the sales tax i.e. 15%, yes, 15% of the trade value in our neck of the woods. So, the Murano Platinum had a MSRP of just over $47K excluding the ridiculous government imposed sales tax of 15%. That's over an additional $7K in taxes bringing the price to ~$54K!!! Anyway, the deal was contingent on the trade in value. Two weeks ago, I had the Z appraised at a Cadillac dealer on a $55K 2014 CTS coupe. They offered me an insulting $23K for the Z. BTW, this dealer also owns the Nissan dealership and several others around Halifax.

Now the good news. The initial trade in value offered was $28K and the military discount was invoice - $3700 off MSRP! Wow! $9700 total off MSRP and still some dickering on the trade in value. Ended up they gave me $30K for the Z. In essence, $34,500 when the sales tax savings for trade is factored in. I walked out the door with a $53K Murano for $9700!!! Woohooo!!!!

In closing, I have really enjoyed participating in this forum for the last 5 years. A lot of great folks in here who are willing to offer their time and advice to help those who are less knowledgeable in the engineering of this fabulous vehicle as well as gaining more knowledge myself in some of the more technical aspects of this great car! Thanks to AK370 and the moderators for tolerating me when discussions got overheated in the earlier years. I'll still drop in now and then to see whats goin' on with the Z community - it kinda' grows on you being member of an exclusive group of enthusiasts such as ourselves. Enjoy your Z's guys and gals as much as we have and thanks!
