Last year on the day after Memorial day I had an extra day off and needed to find some good road. I got up early and headed to SE OK to drive the
Talimena Scenic Parkway. I left Dallas around 5:30am and was there by 8:30am and found the roads to be virtually empty. The only traffic I encountered on the Parkway to Mena was the mowing crew, which made the drive awesome. It was just as nice on the return in the afternoon giving plenty of opportunities for spirited driving.
I was thinking about doing it next Fri May 30, and thought I check to see if any other North Texans were interested. Admittedly it makes for a long day but the back roads through southern OK make it go by quickly. For anyone interested, we can pick a convenient point to meet in McKinney around 7:30am.
Reply here with Yes / Maybe, and also PM me. If there's sufficient interest, I'll set-up meeting time & place. BTW, if anyone else has done this or has tips for other places worth stopping along the way, be sure to post!
