Ok so I figure it's safe for me to share this now. I was told by several people not to badmouth GTM on the forums or I would be banned from the forums and blackballed so I did most of my bitching to Sam directly and to people via PMs. I'm running a GTM 1.5 SC kit and love it but man, getting it delivered and installed was a nightmare. Here's my story:
Quote:
I pre-paid Sam for the kit in early June/late May of last year. The kit wasn't delivered until late August and we had issues (man, did we have issues):
-Shitty communication from the jump. Sometimes days without a response from Sam or Mike. I felt like they were screening their calls.
-Very little support in configuring/setting up the kit.
-2 weeks overdue shipping the kit despite the fact that I gave them a ******* 2 month runway and paid in advance.
-When they finally did ship, they shipped me a G37 twincharger meant for someone in Canada. No apology.
-Shipped my kit even later with a warped part that had been machined poorly (saw it in person - the part didn't fit at all - no way the shop could have done it). Tried to blame the install shop for it. They also forgot half the kit which they shipped several days later delaying the build further. No apology.
-One of my powdered intakes had a ding on it. Again, GTM blamed the install shop.
-I asked for decals for my intake or a t-shirt or something. Sam never shipped them despite promising to on multiple occasions. Minor issue, but after the rest of it - i was just fed up. Mike finally did ship me two tiny decals when I shelled out another $200 for an 88mm pulley. You'd think they'd be a little friendlier considering the money people spend but whatever. Unsurprisingly, they refused to swap the 88mm pulley for the 92mm I had on the car for less than a month. ******* $9500 on a kit and you won't swap out a ******* pulley? F you.
-The part sheet/install instructions they sent the shop were a joke. It was just a xerox printout of their webpage. Considering I bought the "plug and play" kit - that's unacceptable.
-Kit fitment sucks.
-GTM is horribly overpriced
-Sam is rude as hell to paying customers. Makes zero effort to make sure his customers are happy. Once they have your money, you can go **** yourself.
-ALL of that said, the quality of the parts is good but I wouldn't do business with them again if I had known this would happen up-front.
-Their prices are freaking outrageous. I'm still mad I had to pay $200 for a pulley. I mean come on, it's an aluminum pulley for christ's sake.
I think GTM is very lucky that Stillen is their only competition and that GTM only offers the only SC on the market that isn't carb-restricted.
