Smile Navigation Data

OK.. I havent really had an answer to this one in my searches so figured I would throw it out to the gurus...

Im not really impressed with the navigation system, it has a few high points and some pretty low points. Im used to newer iDrive and overall feel this system to be very clumsy and not well thought out or designed. That said.. one thing I am really really missing is RTTI. My BMW used traffic data picked up over FM radio bands to provide traffic data in the navigation which i religiously used. This system ... unless I am mistaken... seems to only be able to provide Sirius/XM traffic data which is excellent if I am travelling or care about what an accident a few hours ago or how traffic is flowing 56 miles away down I26.

My question then is... Is Sirius/XM the only way to get traffic data into the Nav unit or is it using that by default since I have it available and would it flip back to RTTI if the service was shut off?

I am pretty sure I know the answer already... I just wanted to verify.

Thanks guys

BTW.. I wish there was a genius who could rewrite the infotainment system to run android. Who ever designed the UI was an obvious intern with a stank attitude... or they themselves never tried it out.
