OP, you can HEAR the motor reset, slight clicking noise, once you hear it, go back up and hold. Don't OVER-do it, which is what I suspect you're doing.

The window hitting isn't a window reset issue it's a shitty Nissan issue, mine used to not hit. Then water and wind would come in, after 3-4 window motors, now they do hit, no water, but some wind above 100 and on turns where I push it out.
Given the problems you have had with the car, drive it off a cliff. I smell that you will become me very soon... PISSED OFF you didn't buy a Lexus... Nissan ranks 29th out of 33 in initial quality. Infiniti ranks 4th. There's a reason, now you know. (As an FYI, Nissan has never been able to fix window motors/regulators, crank sensors and fuel sending units, so expect to replace all of those at least once during the life of the car [they might have fixed crank sensor issues since 350/G35 days])
Dont worry, I had my fair share of "pillarless" window issues also back in my BMW e36 days, was a common occurance, regulators etc etc.. Oh and fuel sending units too!
