Move to Arkansas. We do a background check but it's while-you-wait and only takes 10-15 minutes. We're also an open-carry (no permit) state. We love our guns in Arkansas.

SmoothZ is mistaken. In his state (Minnesota) he only needs a permit to purchase handguns and "assault-style" rifles. A carry permit also serves that function. Shotguns and rifles only require the usual NICS point-of-sale check - no permit required.
Minnesota is also an open-carry state (permit covers open or concealed). Otherwise, Minnesota gun laws are substantially less restrictive than Arkansas.
