Finding a boot/knob you like, plus rewiring the shifter so up is downshift and pulling back is upshift is really, really sweet -- I use that now as much or more than the paddles when playing around.
The last version of mine where I emplyed double sided 3M tape to really keep the boot and bezel clamped down has been the most successful and least likely to be dislodged
