Ok, let me qualify myself. I am a licensed insurance agent although I have never written an auto policy my specialty is marine. But a policy is a policy which is a legal document. Somewhere in the policy definitions it will tell you what the company is obligated to pay and usually that's all the company will pay for. Of course everyone on TV sells "cheap" insurance and as we all know you get what you pay for. Trust me I'm no fan of the companies I work for the customer. A few suggestions: you get a lot more with honey than salt so don't go ripping *** on the company rep. She is a salaried employee and naturally paranoid from dealing with all the gypsies, tramps & thieves that hose insurance companies. Make nice and do her work yourself. Go to the dealer and or price out all the damaged stuff yourself. Photo document all of the damage and send her a summary in writting of the cost of repairs. DO NOT use an outside adjuster as they will take a piece of the action for basically doing nothing in your case. If you like you can send me a PM and you can email the policy & I will point to the language that states exactly what the company is obligated to pay. So when Flo tells you you can save money by picking your own coverage that's freakin nuts. As someone who doesn't know anything about insurance you have a cheap policy but it won't cover bupkiss when you need it!!! My buddies Escalade got jacked in the exact same manor right in front of his house with a boat trailer & flats boat attached.....Here if ya need me.
