I actually do not know. He had driven down from Houston that morning, and I don't know whether the guys in the garage doing the inspections actually adjusted tire air pressure or not.

I agree it can make a huge difference. He has plenty of track time, so I would expect him to recognize and acknowledge that fact.

What I can tell you is I had the chance to drive 3x 370Z on the track that day. My Nitto Invos at normal pressure (it's my DD) did not feel near as soft as his Hankooks felt. The stock 2013 Nismo was much firmer as well, but I have no clue what the tire pressure was
