As for the rear window...the seat is just barely touching it at its base. And the strap from the trunk keeps the seat from bouncing. Shattering is not a concern at all. You could move it down a little to the trunk also.
Definitely not for everyone. I'm a function over form kind of guy.
Fitting a trailer hitch is a major PITA i hear.
things are not always as they seem. I learned the hard way when my I had an expensive MTB dangling off the back of a friends car on the highway. His rack was supposed to be good too! Personally, I only transport my bike outside the car when my wife goes with and I need to carry 2 bikes. Then I use my Thule in the bike hitch. That doesn't work well all the time either. One of my road bikes got jacked up on a trip to CA from Chicago. All the salt and road grime got inside everywhere it shouldn't have. Had to take the bike completely apart, and still had corrosion damage to an expensive set of wheels and a brand new quarq power meter! I also got some frame damage that I still have no idea where it came from!! I was not happy at all!!
