Your car, your call.
Since you asked for opinions, not my cup of tea. I don't get darkening tail lights. If I ever rear-ended someone with tinted tails, I'd make sure the cops, my attorney, my insurance agent, and the presiding judge knew it.
I followed a truck with seriously tinted tails home on the freeway last summer. In the direct sunlight, I could just barely make out his brake lights. Barely. I actually changed lanes for fear of hitting him.
Stylish or not, it does reduce the intensity of the lights which are set via federal standard.
Have fun and do what you want to do with your car. Just be educated and smart about it.
