In the winter RWD sports cars are priced lower. The longer he waits into the spring/summer the higher the prices will be because demand will increase.
I looked into getting another car in December my trade in value was 27K, now it's 31K.
So if he wants to get a Z he better purchase one sooner or else his buying power will diminish, you can't low ball a dealer when they think they can sell the car quickly to someone else for more money. It's easier to get a desperate dealer to sell a RWD car in the winter however.

Dude... I agree there is definitely an effect to the car's value according to season but you're overstating it like the poster above me said. It's not that crazy. I have a couple friends who work at Carmax and give quotes on cars all day long and they agree.
