I've found the glass sealant to work quite well. In addition to working well on our cars, my wife uses it on our glass shower doors which definitely leads to less water spotting.

He's got a brand new car on its way. I know Nissan's paint is crap, but I doubt his new Z is gonna have swirls in it
I polish and wax by hand - I do not mind the labor of love. I'll borrow a buddy's PC DA polisher if I feel the need (haven't yet in 3 years and 50K miles).
I definitely need to pick up some of the glass sealant
