It's really not necessary to ever do an in-place burnout anyways, IMHO. The only time such a thing makes sense is at the drag strip (a light burn to clean junk off street tires, or a real burnout if you have drag slicks), but even then generally if you hit the throttle hard without the brakes, the car only moves forward a small amount as the rears spin, it's totally controllable and normal. You may have to reverse a few feet to get back to the line.
