Like Nick mentioned, if they are truly cleared, they'll be fine. Start with the least aggressive polish in an inconspicuous spot (as inconspicuous as possible anyway) and work up from there. A smaller 4'' pad should be able to get in the lip pretty well if you're dealing with typical 370z offsets.
