burning smell could mean a lot of things that SA370Z already mentioned (notice my abbrivation usage ) and new wiring/switches that are breaking-in.

ive had switches that smelled like a burning plastic while it was perfectly 'normal'

i recommend you get it checked out though at the shop. 99% of the time, it shouldn't make any smell.
