Because of the way the amb temp sensor is constructed, it is very slow to respond.

As others have said, the sensor is in front of the radiator, mounted on the right* side of the center vertical support. You might want to do a visual inspection and make sure the sensor is still mounted to the support - the tabs that hold the sensor to the support broke on mine and the sensor was resting on the radiator, causing high readings. A strip of heavy-duty Velcro fixed it up.


* Your left if looking at the front of the car. Ie, passenger side for a US car.
