So what. Small when learning is better because the bike doesn't have enough power to get out of it's own way, so you can improve your technique. Then, when you have some miles under your belt, get a bike you feel comfortable with its power.
I'm not saying this because the 250s are cool to ride, I'm saying it because your safety should be more paramount than how the rider looks on the bike. Other bikers will know what you're doing, and no one should (really) ever give you crap about a "
big guy on a little biiiiike".
