In my experience, if you are worried about warranty then leave it stock. A cautious approach would be a cold air intake and cat-back exhaust and call it a day.
Dealerships are all different. Just because something SHOULD be covered under warranty, doesn't mean the dealership will actually submit it to Nissan. A different dealership might do it without hesitation. Being a longtime loyal customer of the dealership helps your cause GREATLY in this regard.
I have heard rumors and stories, which I will not confirm, about guys with fully built GTR's blowing their motors and having them taken back to stock for warranty work, all with the dealership's prior knowledge.
On the other hand, I have personally seen a Chevy dealership deny a claim from a Corvette owner with a cold-air-intake who sucked up water into the engine (heavy rain but no flooding) and blew a 3 inch hole in his block. He had to pay for the whole thing out of his pocket.
My advice, build a relationship with your dealership and be up front with them. Tell them what you are thinking of doing BEFORE you do it and ask them if that will void any future warranty claims.
