Back on topic: it really is a question of skill. As you become a better driver, you'll want the button off more. Manual control of car traction is the quintessential driving skill at the core of everything else. Do some HPDE days and learn to drive if you like fast cars. I learned more about driving in my first couple of DE weekends than I ever did driving around on my own in sportscars for over a decade beforehand. I still spin out sometimes on a track when I'm going balls-out and make a mistake, but under street conditions I no longer have any fear of traction issues in any vehicle, rain or not.
