Default Supercharged Nissan 370Z in Cannonball One Lap of America 2009?

Yes folks! I don't know if this info is suppose to be released yet since we didn't hear from our sponsor STILLEN yet but they are going to supercharge the 370Z for this event.

Here's more info on the event: One Lap of America - the Official Webpage

Here's the whole story:

Quote:
The plan - as it stands - is to run a new 6-speed, Stillen-supercharged 2009 Nissan 370Z in the 2009 version of Brock Yates' Cannonball One Lap of America. We will run in Class 3 - for Sports & GT cars under $40,000 (base price) and 3.5 liters or larger.

Brother Chris is the main driver and instigator. He finished 2nd in class at the 2006 version of the One-Lap in a brutal Mercedes E55. His driving resume includes numerous podium finishes aboard various Alex Job Racing Porsches at such prestigious races as the 12-hours of Sebring and Rolex Daytona 24-Hours. He has lots of showroom stock experience in both SCCA and IMSA with our various Kraft Motorsports Mustangs. Pretty fast for a big feller, his nickname is "Fat Bastard".

I am being dragged kicking and screaming into this fracas. As crew chief on the Red Racing Mustangs and Alex Job Porsches, my driving expeience consists mostly of Skip Barber schools, track days and scaring myself silly during a Firehawk race in Watkins Glen. Some assorted enduro karting, drag racing and LOTS of motocross round out my relatively thin racing resume.

We will be participating with the sponsorship of Kraft Nissan and LOTS of help from Chris' Tallahassee friend, Derek Whitis. Derek won his class at the One Lap in 2006 in a Noble M400 and will be participating this year in a highly modified Nissan GTR. His racing team is handling transportation and support duties. In fact, there are FOUR Tallahassee-based teams entered in this year's event. We'll be more-or-less traveling together.

The 2009 Cannonball One Lap of America will begin on May 2nd in South Bend, Indiana at Tire Rack test track's wet skid pad in the morning, then on to Joliet, Illinois in the afternoon for laps at Autobahn Country Club Track.

May 3rd should find us in Sparta, Kentucky at the brand new BlueGrass Motorsports Park for two events - then 500 miles of driving to Alabama's Talladega Gran Prix Raceway for May 4th track events.

Another long, 600 mile transit wil take us to May 5th and laps at the famed Sebring Raceway in Sebring Florida in the AM. Then, we immediately dash back north 200 miles to Gainesville (HOME!) for an evening of drag racing.

The morning of May 6th should find us at still another Florida venue - the famed Tri-Oval at Daytona International Speedway for several fast events. Afterwards, we are forced to reluctantly leave Florida and head for Tire Rack's Midway, Georgia facility where we need to make a three-hour check-in window and head back out to Kershaw, South Carolina and laps at Carolina Motorsports Park on the morning of May 7th.

We then make a short 150-mile jog over to Greer, South Carolina for lapping at the BMW Performance Center in the afternoon, and a brutal, overnight 600-mile transit to BeaveRun Motorsports Park in Wampum, Pennsylvania for lapping on the morning of the 8th.

A short 120-mile sprint to Avon Lake, Ohio for a three-hour window checkpoint at Design Engineering's headquarters. Then onward back to South Bend for the dry skidpad on the 9th.

3,369 miles plus racing at 11 venues (actually 10 - we do two separate event days at Tire Rack.)

As of today, the car has been ordered, the supercharger is on the shelf ready to be installed and the Nismo exhaust is in. Driving suits are clean. Just have to wait another few months. In the meantime, I have a new FenderCam to post videos from the track events online during transits. It should be fun. Stay tuned!
I was actually fortunate enough to drive at the SC BMW Performance Center track. Thanks to onethreefive.

I am really excited about this event. Finally we will see a Supercharged 370Z in a big event.
