According to my brother, who used to be an IT guy on the tracking team, on a normal day (not the Christmas season), they have 25 million packages in transit.
The week before Christmas, that quadrupled.
I know that they actually rent extra vehicles and planes this time of year. I'm sure you've seen the UPS guys delivering in Budget rental vans. There's even an unmarked 747 that flies in and out of MDT hauling UPS' heavier load this time of year. And this is just Harrisburg, PA!
I say cut 'em some slack. It wasn't optimal, but waaahhh...
I sat on my couch in my pajamas and ordered a Christmas Present on December 24th-1/2 and it didn't get here by Christmas morning.
