Hydrogen burns too fast/hot for the engines used in cars. H2-enrichment has worked well for some hypermilers*. And it's expensive to produce and store. Pure H2 can make a great fuel but not in an "ordinary" car engine.

* The HHO crowd loves it. If you want to do some more reading, search the web for "HHO", "Brown's Gas", &c. Don't believe any of the "free energy" claims but there is a lot of good data on H2-enrichment.
