Good to hear you're unhurt.
Left turns across any intersection require yielding to oncoming traffic. This would make this accident in favor of the other driver (unfortunately, as we always root for the Z) - provided she didn't break the law. In Cali, as long as the front bumper clears the intersection threshold (the single line beyond the crosswalk) before the light turns red, the driver is in the area legally. She then has the right of way.
Hopefully it's ruled otherwise...
Is it just me, or do drivers in CRV's (and Ford Escapes) always seem to drive faster than their cars are designed for? Not knocking the driver or the cars, but I just seem to notice that tendency on the road. Not to mention Prius drivers wanting to race up highway onramps...
