You will also be able to run narrower sizes because the dedicated winter wheels you buy will be smaller. Narrower tires do better in snow than wider ones. A lot of guys here will run 225 or 245 square winter setups.

My winter setup is the base model 18" Enkei wheels with 245/45/18 Michelin Alpin PA4 tires front and rear.
