i'm guessing he had been buried in the mud during a flash flood and died and turned zombie but couldn't move to dig itself out so when she started digging and happened to pull up that sign, it was enough for him to get loose i suppose. that whole scene was played out well, imo.
i thoroughly enjoyed this episode. there were some great character moments and the ending was, to me, how the showdown at the end of season 3 should have gone. regardless, i did have one major gripe. i understand that the people who were with the governor did not know rick or his group at all, i get that. but it was quite obvious that they were going to welcome them into their group before the gov went all hacky-slashy. so when rick pulled out his gun and shot the governor, why did everyone else suddenly open fire? why would these people so blindly follow this guy they've known for a week or so at the most into mortal combat? i mean i cans see the tank guy but all those other people were just people, not soldiers. i didn't get that.
still, i enjoyed the episode thoroughly and i can't wait to see where it goes next. surely, Daryl grabbed little ***kicker on his way out, he was the one taking care of her most of the time anyway.
