YES! RAW! Lol. It's actually really good. It's a traditional way of making a whiskey sour. I've got the same reaction with everyone who hasnt tried it, but once I make the drink for someone, they like it!
1.5oz whiskey (preferably bourbon, but any whiskey will do)
3/4-1.5oz lemon juice (depends how sour you like it)
3/4-1.5oz simple syrup (depends on how much lemon you use;usually put more with less lemon making it sweeter, less with more lemon emphasizing the sour)
1 egg white
1. Shake for 15 seconds with no ice.
2. Shake with ice for 5-10 seconds
3. Strain it in a cup with ice
4. 1-3 squirts of bitters. Orange bitters taste best for me. I've tried straight bitter and preferred orange bitters. I want to try cranberry bitters to experiment.
5. (optional) if you want to get fancy, cut a generous strip of orange zest and stick the ends through a tooth pick with cherries. Use this as a "spoon" and it will give it extremely a flavors.
