What's sad is I run multiple machines at home and at the office, and the ones that are the completely stable 100% of the time are the two without NO anti-virus protection at all. I use an enterprise level hardware firewall that does just fine. I keep AV protection on a few machines just in case because they contain critical data.

Yeah, Norton has been that way for as long as I can remember. But I decided to give it a try because of the 360 package that includes firewall protection and there wasn't really a competitor out there [at least that I could find] that offered the same level of protection. My house is also cloaked in a personal VPN for added security
We can't ever be too safe in the information age.
