I do think it will work, so long as the factory "alarm" is designed to go off when the hatch is opened. The wiring diagram pertaining to the Maxima looks fairly correct, although I haven't looked over the whole thing.
All the sensors do is send a negative pulse when they detect something. So all you're doing is providing them with power while the car is not on, and tapping their negative output into the car's negative input for the hatch. There's nothing weird or computer-like to it.
Shock sensors are typically a 4-wire hookup, and I can't remember what the fourth wire is. I'll look into it if I get some time.
