When I was passing through NM on my way from TX to CA I saw a piece of a newspaper sheet, and I had a hunch that I nailed it square and it was in front of the radiator. I was lazy so I didn't check immediately, but I knew to just look at my oil temps. After it raised about 20 degrees, I got out and saw that in fact the newspaper was blocking it...
