I highly recommend against doing things like that if you don't know what you are doing. It's very easy to fry one of the (expensive) control modules that way.

If you have tried all the other suggestions, I'd try flashing the ECM back to stock and see what happens.

Edit: IIRC, that key light means that the car is not recognizing the fob. Try putting it in the slot in the dash (near the VDC button).
