I also work with a coach/trainer on my overall training for races. He's tried several things as well. Finally, 6 months ago, he decided to stop me from running all together and add in a day a week of mobility/strength exercises. He's got a goal for me to ba able to do 10 pistol squats each leg before I can run again, to prove I have the mobility to quit getting injured. It's been quite a mess! It's cost me a lot of run fitness and added about 20 lbs to my wasteline!
Plantar fasciitis will do that. Terribly painful. I had it in both of my feet at the same time and it put me out of action for about 8 months. 12 weeks of rehab and pt sessions. Thankfully, it hasn't popped it's head since then. I learned that because of other injuries, I was running and walking incorrectly- trying to compensate where weight is being distributed.
