Default Some Suggestions For Handling SPAM

There is a spate of SPAM posts appearing on this site. The SPAMmers are very persistent - been going on for several days now. Here's a few suggestions for what to do when you see SPAM.

Don't ignore it. If there is no comment stating that someone else has already reported the post, please report it (click the red triangle with the "!") yourself and leave a comment stating you did so. If the SPAMmer started the thread, all that is needed is a simple "reported" post; if the SPAM is a comment in the middle of a thread, I try to include a link to the offending post*, so others don't think the thread or other comments have been flagged as SPAM when the SPAM is deleted.

If you see a lingering "reported" comment (SPAM comment has been deleted), send a PM to the author of the "reported" post or an Admin/Mod so it can be deleted.

When you find a SPAM post, click on the author's name and look on the Statistics tab (click "Find all posts by username") for more SPAM. Or click their username in the left column and select "Find More Posts By username". Per Staff, only need to report one SPAM post for each account.

Add any suggestions/hints you may have below and Happy Hunting.

Edit: * I've started quoting the SPAM post, deleting all but the first line, and then adding "reported". A lot easier than C&Ping the URL (URL is included when one quotes).

Edit2: There is some debate going on as to whether or not one should post a "reported" comment. The Yeas say it prevents multiple reports; the Nays say it just bumps the SPAM to the top of any Recent Posts list. I'm conflicted.
Edit3: See this post for an official position on whether or not to report and add comment.
