This is probably futile at this point, but back on topic:
Yes. I think mods lock some threads when they shouldn't or lock them prematurely. But locks I don't agree with (or can't suss out their logic) don't happen very often. And when it does happen, it's usually threads like
this and who cares if those get locked (or even deleted)? I see no harm in the thread regressing but, if the mods are checking all posts, it's just more trash for them to wade through.
As far as "hypotheticals" go, that's just disingenuous. If the mods want to play the game and look the other way, then go for it, but don't be surprised when your hypothetical turns out to be too thinly veiled to ignore and gets locked/deleted.
