Back in my 12V days I used 2 kinds of double sided tape. I have no idea where to buy them for sure or part numbers but this is what I know.

1) grey tape, red backing. usually comes in a roll (like a spool) and is about 1/2-3/4" wide. this stuff is pretty thin and holds well if everything has been wiped down with alchohol.

2) white foamy tape. i've seen this stuff in square grid sheets and just strips. its probably 1/4" thick but it sticks to anything.

I would typically use the grey tape to hold stuff that didn't move or have to much force trying to pull against it. The white stuff I used all the time for amp gain controllers, rf cd changer displays, etc etc. I wouldn't recommend it for anything that got too hot though, looks like it would melt.
