Last winter was a disaster for the electronics of my Altima SE-R...and my pocket book.
In late fall something started to nest in the hoses of my car. I have a black walnut tree next to the garage and along with the nest they pulled out about 20 walnuts. At the time I wasn't driving the Altima because of a leak in the roof so when the tech gave me a simple trick to keeping small furry things out of my car I ignored it. What an expensive mistake.
Two months later when I went to pull out the Altima I turned the fan on and heard it -again- hitting something. Below is what they pulled out...
There were two or three walnuts that they couldn't get to without taking off the dash. They don't really roll around too much so I told them to leave them there.
NOW...the trick: BOUNCE fabric sheets. Yup, the standard ones. Mice, squirrels, and rats -hate- the smell. So as soon as I got home I stuffed a dozen in the recesses of the engine compartment. Then I went to Office Max and got some magnetic clips (
OfficeMax Magnetic Bulldog Clips). Stuck them around here and there!
I've been told by many people that have cabins and store their toys up north that this is a no **** fix. Nesting season starts in a two months so we'll see!
