Oh thanks! I was out of town for a couple of days. When I took the Z out this morning I was caught off guard with the abrupt clutch engagement while backing out and killed the engine. The entire drive was rough... it was as if engagement was barely off the floor. There was almost 2 inches of "play" before disengaging the clutch. I wonder if this is the reason why I've been scratching gears more often than usual. Plus, I've experienced shuddering you guys described since day 1.

Less than 6k miles.
