Some quick research from a case in California that went to the Supreme Court:

"The U. S. Supreme Court struck down the Stolen Valor Act, which made it a crime to lie about military service.

By a 6-3 decision, the high court said the right to lie about medals and military service is protected by free speech."


I don't Like it one bit! I'm proud of my service and those that have served, and don't like hearing when someone is lying about their service, but I guess we provide (provided) protection for those individuals to say what they want...
