I know its legal here in CA to drive between cars like that and apparently its even a question on the written exam but it just seems crazy. It was a madhouse yesterday on the 10 heading into LA with these idiots. Is there a high rate of biker accidents in CA? I don't see how there wouldn't be with people like this and people changing lanes without seeing a biker. It's definitely a different aspect in driving then what we have in the Chicago area.
I do not know statistics. In the summer time I hear the fire engine 2-3 times each Saturday and Sunday, usually from bikes. Anybody riding a bike, on a tight mountain road (with cars) for longevity, may need to rethink their exercise area.

I was once a volunteer fire fighter here, and I speak from experience, it is usually a bike falling down hard or tangling with a car.
