Mount the plate. Its the law. I have one mounted here in Germany on the front. That equals freedom on the Autobahn. Im amazed at how many people think driving is a right. Wrong.
Dont like the front plate make do with a solution that works for you. Drilling the bumper = first world non issue. Geez man. You got a huge break to begin with. Grow up!
