I had these on my Z for a year, went to 3 track days and they performed like an extreme performace tire. The reasons they are so costly IMO is because 1) they are Michelins 2) they are more comfortable and quieter that any other summer tire that performs as well as this one (if there is one). 3) they are lighter that pretty much any tire.
PSS may not be the best bang for the buck for sure. But nothing like these as far as ultimate grip (for a max performance summer tire).
You can argue that there are some tires that are not too far behind and cost like 25% less but like I said they are behind.
