You'll never get accurate sound out of any car stereo - the cabin is bad acoustically, listeners are off-axis, &c. But few ppl think that truly accurate sound reproduction sounds good. Bose tries to produce audio that ppl perceive as being pleasant.

Everybody's ears are different - what sounds good to one person might sound like crap to another. If you like the way the Bose system sounds, stick with it and damn the naysayers. If you don't like it, get something that sounds good to you.

Personally, I think the Bose system in my 2009 Touring is pretty good. Not fantastic, but more than good enough to keep me from replacing it.
