The hand brake method messed me up on inclines more than helped. The key is to stay calm and try to do a smooth engagement. Also while it feels like you're rolling back a ton, its not really as far as you think, so long as you're quick to engage. I typically give it a little more revs awhen starting on an incline as well. Also if you're going up your incline drive slowly, do it in first. Then you can feather the clutch until you're in the spot you need to be. Dont lug it in 2nd creeping up the drive.
Don't worry about stalling here and there. I probably stalled 5-10times my first day and it went away after a few days of driving.
