The bumper seems super-soft, so that shouldn't really present a problem; it's just the unknow of cutting my $400 bumper + paint + clear bra that is making me anxious/cautious.
I've really over-thought this, but I just want to do it right. Rusty has been incredibly gracious with answering my questions. Having someone with his skill level do this already has been a god-send for me.
Haven't you cut/trimmed your bumper Gale?

No trimming, but I used a step bit to drill a few holes in Ms. Pint's front bumper for her EVO-R lip. You're right about the bumper being soft - it was much softer than I expected. However, the holes were super clean and didn't mess up any other part of the bumper or paint (no clear bra on her car). Just go slow and you should be fine. Glad you have some experience with Rusty in your corner to help
