We have a pretty good sized CHA class here in my my region and they like to push you into an actual class after a year of running that champion or not. I never run CHA, I started right off in DSP in my S14.
Also the word I've been hearing is that the stock class will no longer run race tires, and will be street tire class next year, hopefully I've heard this right.

First off, the CHA class is not a normal class that is run everywhere. Some SCCA regions create their own classes to fit their specific needs. In my region, since we have a lot of national level competitors we tend to follow the national level rules pretty strictly.
Secondly the Stock classes being moved to street tires for next year is correct. It is possible that SS will continue to use R-Comps although that doesn't affect us and our Z's. Additionally allowed modifications for Stock classes will possibly change next year as well.
