Solid or hollow is not the real issue. The real issue is stiffness. Hollow bars can weigh less than a comparable solid bar while a solid bar is more compact (smaller diameter) than a similarly stiff hollow bar.
If circumstances limit the maximum diameter of the bar then a solid bar usually offers the greatest stiffness in the least amount of space. If there are no limits on the diameter then a hollow bar can save weight and offer comparable stiffness.
How stiff are you interested in going? For street use almost any aftermarket bar set will offer you plenty of stiffness. I have the Stillen set with the front bar set on the softest settling and the rear bar set on the middle setting and I have found it to provide exceptional control in street use.
