I think Big A and I covered this pretty well but again I will agree with him about the Subs. The best sounding subs out there for the money are JL and Image Dynamics. There are a few exceptions out there but if you stick to them, you will be happy.

It is very common for high end audio companies to make great components and so so subs, Diamond Audio comes to my mind. Or you get the opposite like JL, they make awesome subs and amps but thier components are Meh! ok, but not great.

However if you like really dry sounding bass that is super accurate for like Jazz and Classical, you might want to look at Focal subs. Note, they have to be ported. That is what Focal recommends. Despite the fact that they are ported, they have amazing sound quality.

I have played around with the Access and Polyglass series subs and I feel they are worth mentioning. But my personal favorite subwoofer is a JL 12W6V2 in a 1.5 cu ft sealed enclosure!
